Scratch sirloin odds
The "sirloin" is the big-ticket cut: a line of 7 8 9, sum 24, paying 10,800 MGP. Reference odds on a fair random ticket:
- One blind line hits the 10,800 sirloin 1 time in 84 (≈1.2%).
- Some line on the ticket hits it 9.52% of the time (1 in 10.5 tickets).
- A blind line pays 10,080 from {1 2 3} or {6 8 9}, also 1 in 84 each.
- About 27.1% of tickets contain a premium line (10,080 or 10,800 top payout); on those tickets the expected-value-best line averages ≈3,665 MGP, versus ≈813 MGP for a flat blind pick — that gap is the whole game.
- Plenty of fat without the sirloin: a 1,080 line (sum 15) shows up on 53.5% of tickets, and a 1,620 line (sum 19) on 37.9%.
- The thin gruel: a sum-20 row pays just 36 MGP — the worst cut.
